Prologue

You have come to time of darkness. A time without hope. Herod the Great is ruler over all Israel—from as far north as Caesarea Philippi above the Sea of Galilee to as far south as Beersheba and the Dead Sea; from the Mediterranean Sea on the west to Perea, east of the Jordan. Herod rules with an iron fist, but you know his real power derives from Caesar Augustus in Rome. You are oppressed by heavy taxes and an occupying Roman army. Your Jewish heritage provides identity but no true life. It has been four hundred years since the last prophet in Israel, and the strict traditions of the rabbis keep you under religious bondage. The temple has been rebuilt by Herod, and temple ceremonies and sacrificial rituals are observed, but the high priest is corrupt, and the Sadducees and Pharisees control the Sanhedrin. You are surrounded by death, and your prayers seem to evaporate into the air. If ever you needed a deliverer, the time is now.

You know this story. You know how, into this dark time, a young virgin named Mary gives birth to a son. How Joseph and Mary flee with the baby Jesus to Egypt to save Him from Herod. You know they settle in Nazareth, where Jesus grows in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and men. You see the prophet John prepare the way for Jesus—baptizing and calling the people to repentance. You hear about the many miracles Jesus performs, healing the sick, lifting the downtrodden, raising the dead. And you know the end of the story—how He dies on the cross and is buried in a tomb, only to rise again on the third day.

You know what happens in the Physical Realm.

But have you seen the reality of the unseen?

Can you picture the King’s Realm? The ten-dimensional space, the temple, with the outer court, the inner court, and the Holy of Holies—where the King is enthroned. Where everything is pure, white, and full of light. Where there is no battle, and the King’s word is executed without fail. Where the mighty cherubim and seraphim guard the holiness of the sanctuary.

Can you see into the Middle Realm? The six-dimensional spiritual world that overlays the Physical Realm. Where Satan has authority to rule, and the fallen angels do his bidding to bring death and destruction to the fallen race of man. Where angels and demons battle for the sake of their kingdoms. Where words carry power and spiritual matter is as tangible as physical matter.

Have you heard of the great mystery? The mystery of the King’s plan for redemption—hidden within the deep counsel of the King from ages past? The unanswered questions hang in the air. How will the King enter the world? When will He come? How will he deliver His people?

You know that the enemy doesn’t understand the mystery. But what if the King’s angels also don’t fully understand? What if the mystery is revealed to them step by step? What if an angelic captain named Elric, four lieutenants, Zaben, Jenli, Timrok, and Lacidar, and their small team are charged with keeping Jesus hidden on the earth until He is ready to begin His campaign? What if they alone have the responsibility to keep Him safe? What if this team of angels is expecting a conquering King? What will happen if their mission fails?
